As part of your Giving Tuesday, we're asking you to think locally and consider donating to Citizens for Local Power. Your tax-deductible contribution is very important to us and will help us continue our work to create a locally-based clean energy economy in New York's Mid-Hudson Valley.
CLP is currently helping our communities and municipalities fight Central Hudson's latest proposed rate hike and better align utility spending priorities with the interests of our communities. We're working on two fronts: 1) through public education and outreach, we're mobilizing citizens and local government officials to make their voices heard, and 2) as a party to the PSC proceeding that is reviewing the proposed rate plan, we have a seat at the table and are pressing for changes that promote a cleaner, more affordable energy system for our communities. CLP is also working with partner organizations on a state-wide campaign to reduce utility fixed charges for all New Yorkers – Central Hudson’s fixed "customer" charge is the highest in NY State and among the highest in the country! To find out more about what we've been working on this year, you can check out our latest newsletter.
As our team is primarily made up of volunteers, we depend on these generous donations to further our mission. Your contributions will be used to support our single staff member, print flyers and materials for community events, and travel to working group and state policy meetings to make sure that our community is represented.
We are very grateful to an anonymous donor who has agreed to match all donations received this year, up to $10,000. We hope that we can count on you to help us meet this goal.
Tax-deductible donations can be made to CLP at: https://actionnetwork.org/fundraising/general-contributions
Thank you for your continued support,
