PSC enables community renewable energy projects in New York!

In a historic Order, the PSC has enabled community renewable energy projects in New York! (Or in PSC-ese, “Community Distributed Generation”, or “CDG.”) The CDG Order is the most tangible product of the REV to date, and has the potential to vastly increase access to the benefits of renewable ownership by residents and businesses. Until now, renters, many low- and moderate-income customers, and residents and businesses with properties poorly sited for renewable energy have been effectively excluded from the benefits of renewable energy. Now, they will be able to participate in community renewable projects and receive credits for this power on their electricity bills as if the panels were on their rooftops.  For more information on community renewable energy, go to CLP’s community solar page.
