When we talk about CCA, it’s important to realize that it comes in many varieties and forms, and can be established to serve different community purposes and goals. CLP is a strong proponent of the “2.0” version of CCA, which helps communities shift toward a locally-based clean energy economy that benefits whole communities. - September 2014: Forum on CCA, held at SUNY-Ulster.
Panelists included Paul Fenn of Local Power Inc., and the architect of CCA; Brian Murphy of Colonial Power, a CCA consultancy based in Connecticut; Philip Ferreira, who operates a CCA out of the Department of Planning for the City of Lowell, MA, and Stephan Wollenburg, Senior Power Planner for the Cape Light Compact, an inter-municipal CCA comprised of 21 towns and two counties on Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard. CLP’s Jen Metzger opened with an introduction on the New York context and Rochester Town Supervisor Carl Chipman moderated. The event was presented by CLP and sponsored by the Ulster County Planning Department, Ulster County Association of Town Supervisors and Village Mayors, and Catskill Mountainkeeper.

A second forum was held in Sullivan County with presentations by Paul Fenn (LPI), and Jen Metzger and Betta Broad (CLP). The event, also presented by CLP, was sponsored by the Town of Bethel, Sullivan County Alliance for Sustainable Development, and Catskill Mountainkeeper.
