Local officials attend PSC public hearing on energy affordability

Many thanks to the local elected officials who turned out at the afternoon PSC public hearing on energy affordability! Included among these officials were Rochester Town Supervisor Carl Chipman (President of the Ulster County Association of Town Supervisors and Village Mayors) and Kingston Common Council Member Nina Dawson, who gave compelling testimony about the energy hardships faced by many of their residents.

At the evening session, our EDA partner organization, Nobody Leaves Mid-Hudson, took the hearing by storm, with low-income customers giving heart-wrenching testimony about the challenges they face in paying energy bills to keep the lights on, and in dealing with Central Hudson generally, providing testimony demonstrating that the utility engages in unfair shut-off practices.
