Public Service Commission Enables Community Choice Aggregation in New York State

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has issued an order enabling Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) in all of New York State, empowering communities with the opportunity to negotiate contracts for more favorable rates and cleaner electricity supply. As the electricity markets are being reorganized under the progressive Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) proceeding, CCA will become a powerful tool for communities at the local level, especially for customers including homeowners and small business owners, to engage in a meaningful way.

Citizens for Local Power urges people to speak out at PSC Hearing in Kingston on Energy and Utility Reforms

On Thursday, November 12, the New York’s Public Service Commission (PSC) will hold a public hearing at Kingston High School on major utility and energy reform proposals, beginning with a presentation by PSC staff at 6 pm and followed by public statements for the record at 7 pm.

NYS PSC Public Hearing on Energy Affordability to be held at Poughkeepsie Town Hall

The New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) is asking for public input on energy affordability and proposed reforms to its low-income programs. Hearings for the Central Hudson service territory will be held on Thursday, September 24, at Poughkeepsie Town Hall (1 Overocker Road), at two different times, and will be proceeded by information sessions: a 2 pm information session followed by a 3 pm public statement hearing; and a 6 pm information session followed by a 7 pm public statement hearing.

An Ulster County Local Power Program Is One of Six Demonstration Projects Recommended to the Public Service Commission in the Central Hudson Rate Case

A proposal by Ulster County-based Citizens for Local Power (CLP) to investigate and develop a local power program as a demonstration project of the State’s Reforming the Energy Vision (REV) Initiative has been included as one of six demonstration projects recommended to the NYS Public Service Commission (PSC) by the Parties to the Central Hudson rate case.

Invitation to Press Conference

The campaign against the takeover of Central Hudson by Canadian holding company Fortis, Inc., has energized mid‐Hudson municipalities. Among those invited to participate in the press conference are the mayors and supervisors of the seven municipalities that have voted unanimously to oppose the takeover, and other public officials who have spoken out against it.
