Community Choice Aggregation in Kingston.
The purpose of Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) is to allow participating local
governments to procure energy supply services and distributed energy resources (DER) for
customers in their communities. Bringing CCA to Kingston will allow residents and businesses
to lower their energy costs, spur clean energy innovation and investment, improve customer
choice and value, and protect the environment, thereby fulfilling an important public purpose.
Citizens for Local Power (CLP) [link to CCA page] created Mid-Hudson Energy Transition (MHET)
[link] to bring advanced CCA to Kingston. MHET is committed to giving communities a voice in
deciding how to respond to climate change in ways that are fair and equitable – and that
immediately improve people’s lives. Among other objectives, MHET will seek community advice
and support for Kingston’s CCA to bring in local solar and hydro generation and funds to help
weatherize buildings, electrify heating, cooling, and cooking, and install EV charging
